Since: January, 2013
Meaning: Intellectual man, who loves staying at home and pursuing perfection by working.
As it always happens for New Chinese Words on the web, the ones describing men and classifying them into different categories usually come from Japan first. So 猫系男子 máoxìnánzǐ too started to be used in Japan in order to describe men who love staying at home, who want to do everything in a perfect way and who are imaginative and creative but, sometimes, have some problem in socializing with other people.
Need to know: Japanese people divide men into two categories 犬系男 (quǎnxìnán) and 猫系男 (máoxìnán).
In Use: “我算喜欢猫系男的。” ( I suppose that I like intellectual men who prefer to stay at home ‘máoxìnán.’)
