心机boy – xīnjīboy

Meaning: intelligent and quick-witted guy.

心机 may sound familiar to whom is already used to Chinese net-language, in fact it comes from 心机婊 xīnjībiǎo which is referred to scheaming women. This word has a derogatory connotation, on the contrary today word of the day: 心机boy has a positive meaning. It is used to refer to men who are quick-witted and who invest a lot of effort to think about a scheme, a way to succeed. 心机boy is a word of simpathy and admiration but, be careful, understand the context first!

Need to know: It started to be used when the TV-serie 《还珠格格》was released, in order to ridicule 尔康 on of the telefilm character who’s the perfect example of a funny and exagerated 心机boy.
