Origin: China, Weibo
Meaning: to be useless!/to be a white elephant!
It is an abbreviation for the longer expression: 然而并没有什么卵用, which literally means “However, it’s not such a useful egg”.
卵 luǎn stays for “egg”, but it can also mean men’s genital, which comes from the ancient character 朖 lǎng, used in the past.
You can usually use this expression to ridicule a thing that isn’t as hard or high-end as you thought. It’s used to reply to a person’s statement which you learn to be a nonsense or a lie.
Related words: nozuonodie, 城会玩
In Use: “然而他说的并没有什么卵用！” ( What he told me isn’t useful at all!)
You can use the entire expression (as in the example above) or use the shorter expression between commas, as a parenthetical element (look at the example underneath), or at the beginning of an answear:
“优衣库试衣间不许男女同时进入？然并卵，我们还有七匹狼。” (In UNIQLO shops they don’t allow men and women to enter together in the same fitting room, isn’t it? What a worthless thing, we still can have sex!)
